Thoughts on MullMuzzler:

Well, this seems like eons ago, but I remember Carl telling me that James had called him and asked if he would consider writing some tunes for his Solo record that he had planned. Since Carl and I work fairly well togather, Carl asked me to help out by providing some music for the project.

We had just finished Tyranny and I was pretty burned out on the music scene, but I sat down and Hammered out the Music for Shores of Avalon, Sacrifice and Slow Burn. I turned the tapes over to Carl and he worked his melodic and lyrical magic and what came of it were a few of the best songs I thought we had ever written togather. I especialy love of Slow Burn...the melodies in that song still make me high as clouds when I hear it. I also thought that Shores of Avalon would have made a great Shadow Gallery tune :) and Sacrifice was James request for a "Silent Lucidity-ish" song for the record...simple and strong melodies.

I was not too sure how my guitar lines would be interpreted, but Mike Keneally kept them pretty much the way I wrote them and of course, he played awesome on the entire record, adding great touches of his own on a lot of things. I thought Carl did a nice job of writing for James's range and James made every song his own. His voice is incredible and I was proud to be a part of the record.
